As the Board continues with the pilot project of vetting in the counties; currently in Kisumu, we took time to engage with Law students at the University of Nairobi, Kisumu Campus on 17th February, 2015 at the university premises, Nakumatt Mega city. The topic discussed was on the Judges and Magistrates vetting process in Kenya; challenges and lessons learned. In this well attended session, the chairman of the Board, Mr. Sharad Rao highlighted various issues encountered by the Board during the exercise. Mr. Justus Munyithya, who was the other presenter also elaborated on the legal challenges and the implication thereof on the vetting process. Other Board members present were Mrs. Meuledi Iseme, Rtd. Deputy Chief Justice Alice Mpagi-Bahigeine (Board Members), Assisting Counsel Mrs. Sorobit and other staff members.
The Associate Dean, School of Law, Mr. Okech Owiti had earlier welcomed the Board to the campus and spoke of the importance of such an interaction with the Board. Mrs. Elizabeth Odhiambo who gave a vote of thanks at the end of the session, expressed her sincere gratitude on behalf of the university.
